"portfolio workers" or "protfolio careers"
- Individuals will maintain portfolios of people's skills, abilities, and achievements with which they obtain temporary assignments in a variety of organizations ( by Charles Handy )
I have worked as a portfolio worker since I began my career and I have thought how I could survive in real life with a lot of competitors. Besides, I have always compared the job-for-life with the life-for-job because if I worked for money, I sometimes could not do the work which I really enjoy although I could earn a lot of money. I completely know that living as a portfolio worker is such a tough job because I do not have permanent income every month like full-time employees and I sometimes suffer from not having work or enough money. Fortunately, I have been able to get some work continuously but some of my friends working by themselves could not find an appropriate job or meet a good client. In my case, portfolio working makes me satisfied while I am working because I can prepare my own work and select my work by myself. If I worked for a company, I could not be happy because I might have to do work for only the company. The biggest advantage for portfolio workers is that they can work for their own satisfaction. I think this is very important element when I am working.
-about myART, Jong-un Choi
I received both B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in Korean Painting, from the College of Arts at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. Since 2006, I have held four invited solo exhibitions in Seoul, three art fairs, and several group exhibitions.
I specialize in Korean painting and I have been able to learn traditional Korean methods and experience a variety of traditional materials. Although I specialized in Korean Painting, I'd like to learn diverse experience in the United States. I think I'm taking my first step as an international here and I hope that there are a lot of chances in store for me.
