Selective Consciousness my Art/Statement2011/09/12 20:59
Based on the inception of my experience, I explored the convergence of reflected images in mirrors or windows using the lens of a camera as an alternative vision. Photographic work makes it possible for me to reproduce a secondary reality in which images are perceived to have value. The photographic images are actualized to refine my vision altogether and optimize my perspective. My perspective of objects is the implication of vision with my eyes in its material relation to the world. Therefore, a singular perspective, as I see through the lens, embodies my own existence. In this activity, there is only one standpoint where I, as a stationary spectator, am standing and engaging with my entire perception.
My painting is divided into binary parts: the reflected image I select and the outer space of the reflected image I do not select. I cut the actual objects out which directly appear to me and draw invisible objects, reflected from visible objects. The depicting of realistic visible content in a reflective surface corresponds to my perspective, my time and even my emotions when I catch them. I seize the moment immediately with my own consciousness and suggest the abstractive space of my own desire. While the reflected image is elaborately depicted as if the lens of the camera is showing, the rest of the space is filled with solid color smoothly painted. The reflected images I select actualize my existence and represent my consciousness of objects, whereas abstract color, the outer space of the reflected image, indicates either the spiritual or emotional space of my desire and reveals the visual impact with a fictive image by implication. The internal perception of the outer space of reflection has a psychological impact by a filtering of my experiences and absolute contrast with the depicted reflection.
The consciousness of reflected surfaces
represents my own engagement in the urban vistas where I currently live and
work. I have always been
interested in the visual relationship between objects and space from an
exploration of reflected images, and I have attempted to refine a mutual
relationship between my vision and the reflected objects. In other words, the
purpose of my work is to awaken my consciousness of objects and emphasize the
relationships among objects. I want to express the structures based on the
transcendental cognition in which I find my own existence. I believe the result
of my work may be a well-designed creation in order to harmonize contemporary
space based on my own view of visible objects.
